Junior was Anne’s true “heart dog” and will always hold a special place in her heart. We went with a friend to the home of Arthur and Shirley Ponsart to just to help her pick out a show puppy and ended up buying Junior instead. He and Anne bonded when he was just 10 weeks old and it became a lifetime mutual love affair. Seeming more human than canine, Junior loved everyone and was loved by all. While with us he was the firm yet kind pack leader who everyone obeyed. Gone way to soon due to a genetic defect that caused his gastrointestinal track to die, Anne still gets tears in her eyes when she sees his picture. Sleep well, my boy, and I will see you beyond the Rainbow Bridge.
Career highlights:
- Easily owner-handled to his AKC Championship before a year old. There was no Grand Championship at the time or we are sure he would have achieved great things.
- Handled by Phylllis Wright to his Bermuda (group placing) and Canadian (group placing) championships.
- Easily achieved his AKC Companion Dog title and was one of the group of dogs to be the first to achieve their AKC Rally Novice titles when the sport began on January 1, 2005.
- Was training for Open Obedience and Rally Advanced and was actually entered in trials when he suddenly died.
